Emiko Queen (Red Arrow) Reading Order!

July 22, 2022 by Gabriel Rodrigues Leave a Comment

Created by Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino, she was introduced as Emiko Lacroix, the daughter of Komodo, an enemy of Green Arrow. Later she found out she was Oliver’s half-sister, and then she decided to start being his partner.

Emiko found out more about herself and became a hero, assuming the mantle of Red Arrow. She saved Star City alongside Green Arrow, Black Canary, and Arsenal. After that, she leaves them and joins the Teen Titans as Robin’s right hand. You can currently catch her in Teen Titans Academy and in the “Dark Crisis” event. Cassandra Cain Reading Order!

July 6, 2022 by Gabriel Rodrigues 1 Comment

Created by Kelley Pucket and Damion Scott, Cassandra Cain, one of the Batgirls, has been through a lot in the DC Universe, she even disappeared for a while after the “New 52,” but the recent years have been fantastic for her.

Introduced in the “Mark of Cain” story-line, Cassandra suffered years of abuse and was never taught how to speak or write, all so she would accurately interpret and read body language to the level she would even be able to predict it. Cassandra was trained to be a killer, but she escaped that life and, nowadays, does her best to save people and dedicate herself to justice and heroism. With an obsession that surpasses and even scares some of her friends, like Tim Drake and Stephanie Brown, Cassandra wants to be Batman; she wants to grow and be the same symbol that said she could change and be better.

As I said, Cassandra went through a lot, even lapses into villainy and weird mind control. Those things are never good. But they only represent a tiny fraction of her story, and I’m sure you won’t want to miss the rest of it. She’s not just the best Batgirl, she’s one of the best characters from DC Comics. Manifold (Eden Fesi) Reading Order!

June 8, 2022 by Gabriel Rodrigues Leave a Comment

Eden Fesi, the hero Manifold, is an indigenous Australian mutant created by Jonathan Hickman, Brian Michael Bendis, and Stefano Caselli. He is a universal shaper – in other words – he talks to space, and when he asks for something, you can pretty much consider it done. At first, he trained under Gateway, but Daisy Johnson soon recruited Eden to be part of her team, the Secret Warriors.

Eden has also had adventures with the Avengers and was an important part of the team, while Hickman was the writer from 2012 to 2015. [Read more…] about Manifold (Eden Fesi) Reading Order!

Maniac of New York Review! Pray Harry Doesn’t Find You

May 30, 2022 by Gabriel Rodrigues Leave a Comment

Elliott Kalan and Andrea Mutti open up Maniac of New York: The Death Train with the above image. It already warns you the story will be filled with the kinds of violence and gory deaths characteristic of the slasher genre. In our day and age, with so many sequels and remakes, everyone knows the basics of slasher flicks like Halloween and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, so – in a way – we are already familiar with Harry, our Jason-like serial killer. But his role is also a bit different from the other characters mentioned. [Read more…] about Maniac of New York Review! Pray Harry Doesn’t Find You

Shadow King Reading Order!

May 20, 2022 by Gabriel Rodrigues Leave a Comment

Created by Chris Claremont and John Byrne, Shadow King is a psychic entity that feeds on fear and rage. It needs hosts to survive outside the astral plane; the most well-known is Amahl Farouk, the first person it ever possessed, but a lot of other characters had their bodies used by it, like Psylocke, Karma, Moira, Legion, and even Black Panther.

It first met Professor X before the X-Men were even created. After that encounter, Shadow King swore revenge against him. While Professor’s dream is to live peacefully with others, the evil entity known as the Shadow King feeds on hatred and the shadows in people’s souls. Their confrontations are always interesting to see because of that. But the evil entity also has interesting face-offs with other characters, like Storm and the New Mutants.

Now, Farouk is living in Krakoa with most other mutants. Vita Ayala wrote a great arc centered around him in the current New Mutants run. His future isn’t certain yet, but I’m sure we can expect exciting things. [Read more…] about Shadow King Reading Order!
