So what were the Secret Wars?

In May 1984, Marvel released what can only be described as a classic series – one that they’re now revisiting.  Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars – commonly referred to just as ‘Secret Wars’ – was easily the first major ‘event comic’, a 12-issue epic that had unusual origins.  Next year, Jonathan Hickman is going to helm a new iteration of this event, and so it seems appropriate to help catch readers up on the original!

Marvel announced a new digital comics feature today: Digital bundles! You can now buy complete comic arcs of some of Marvel’s best series, or sampler packages of some newer issues, for a reduced digital rate.

To those keeping up with the digital comics revolution, this is actually a repeat of the Comixology news last week, and yes, Marvel’s digital comic store bundles are the same offerings as those on Comixology. Marvel Comics has been giving away a LOT of free stuff lately. And not just your standard “here’s an old issue of a second-tier story” digital giveaway.

Recent Marvel freebies have included every #1 issue in their publishing history, as well as the starting issues of their digital Infinite Comics line.
