Over the next few weeks, I’m going to be casting my eye to the teasers Marvel have released for their 2015 ‘Secret Wars‘ event. The majority of these images are related to Marvel events of the past, and hint at realities colliding in the new Battleworld… First up: Years of Future Past! Much like pet reindeer, giving comic books as a gift can be surprisingly difficult. For Marvel & DC comics you’re dealing with long ongoing series mired in decades of continuity, and with other graphic novels it can be challenging to determine quality or fit for your intended gift recipient. Personally, I’m a big fan of new stories and Marvel taking chances with their characters. Don’t buy it? Here’s a whole bunch of suggested reading from the past where Marvel dramatically changed established heroes along with the end result: [Read more…] about Suggested Reading: The History of Marvel Comics Dramatically Transforming Key Characters
I’m either more plugged into the new comic book landscape through my reviews over on Capeless Crusader, or 2014 is absurdly impressive in terms of new comic book output. Seems like every week there are a handful of “must-grab” number one issues. This is exciting (tons of good comics!), but also a bit intimidating. Let’s say you’re new to comic book pulllists, or simply on a budget. Where do you start? [Read more…] about 2014’s 10 Best Ongoing Comic To Start Reading RIGHT NOW (Mid-Year Edition!)
