Agatha Harkness Reading Order

With Agatha: House of Harkness coming our way on Disney+, I’m sure many people want to know more about her. She started off as Franklin Richards’ nanny, but – as time passed – she started helping the Fantastic Four in more significant ways with her magical powers. Later, during an adventure with the Avengers, she announced that she would help Scarlet Witch with her studies.

Even though she sometimes meets the Fantastic Four again, her most important (and the best overall) relationship is with Wanda, the Scarlet Witch. I mean, Agatha in the Scarlet Witch (2015) comic is pure gold, you’ll see.

Lately, she’s been showing up a bit in the Captain America stories. And I bet she’ll appear even more; Marvel obviously has plans for her (at least in the MCU), and a lot of fans loved her in WandaVision. Agents of Atlas Reading Order

There are few ideas so central to the ethos of Marvel Comics as throwing a bunch of heroes together into a team book. And with that being the case, there’s a flavor for every type of reader. You want the team with the biggest heroes and the most epic storylines? That’d be the Avengers, of course. You like outcasts and don’t mind brain-meltingly complex continuity? Go for the X-Men. Cosmic chaos? Guardians of the Galaxy. Mystic and supernatural? The Defenders. Gritty street-level crime? The (Netflix) Defenders.

But there’s one team that probably doesn’t make it onto as many ‘favorites’ lists as they deserve. A team that represents the pure joy and lunacy of superhero comics better than almost any other in the Marvel stable. A de-aged S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, a presumed-dead Atlantean princess, a Uranian telepath, a sentient killer robot, a mythological siren, and a man in the body of an immortal gorilla. Nebula Reading Order

You certainly know Nebula from the MCU movies, but probably don’t know she started with a quite different story in the comics. She actually first appeared as a villain of the Avengers, proclaimed herself Thanos’ granddaughter, and only gained her robotic parts after a long time.

Trying to attain immensurable power, Nebula asked Monica Rambeau – Captain Marvel – to help her conquer the Skrull empire. Even after failing, she came back a few more times, only intending to get more power (unfortunately, it took a while for her to get better development). Then, she met Thanos, her alleged grandfather, but he said she was a liar – that she couldn’t be his granddaughter. Because of that, he attempted to kill her and believed he actually succeeded. Clea Reading Order!

Clea has come a long way since her introduction by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in 1964. Starting out as an unnamed stock-standard damsel in distress for Doctor Strange to rescue in the Dark Dimension, she became Strange’s disciple and lover, before leading a rebellion in her native dimension and taking it over as ruler. Across her comic book history, she’s fought her uncle the Dread Dormammu and other mystical menaces, been a member of the Defenders, and now, in the aftermath of Marvel’s recent Death of Doctor Strange storyline, she is the new Sorcerer Supreme, taking up the mantle and legacy of Stephen Strange.

Having spent a lot of time as little more than a secondary character and love interest in Doctor Strange comics from the 60s to the 80s, it has taken until the 2000s to see her break away from the good doctor’s shadow and appear in titles away him, and until 2022 for her to be the main character of her own ongoing series, the upcoming Strange. Madelyne Pryor (Goblin Queen) Reading Order!

Madelyne Pryor Reading Order

Most notably known for her role in “Inferno” (1989), Madelyne Pryor – the Goblin Queen – was first introduced in Uncanny X-Men #168 as a pilot that greatly resembled Jean Grey. She and Scott start dating and, soon, they marry and have a son, Nathan Christopher Charles Summers – aka Cable.
