Here at Comic Book Herald, we like to respond to reader requests! And so, stepping aside from my X-Men chronologies, I’ve been asked to do a walk-through of the life and times of everybody’s favorite Cajun charmer, Gambit! I’m going to break this into eras, with the obvious starter being from his first appearance, Uncanny X-Men 266, through to the end of the Muir Isle Saga in Uncanny X-Men #280. The Complete X-Men Reading Order Guide!
Nothing in Marvel comics is as vast and sprawling as the universe of the X-Men. What I’m trying to say is this reading order is immense (and stunningly impressive, likely created by a man of tremendous physical power). For those of you looking to catch up on the best X-Men comics, or perhaps to get started for the first time after enjoying X-Men: The Animated Series (and X-Men ’97!), this is the guide:
Question of the Week: Where Should I Start With Guardians of the Galaxy?
Update 12.15.16: Comic Book Herald’s updated, complete Guardians of the Galaxy reading order
A bit late with this week’s “Question of the Week” not due to lack of awesome questions (seriously you guys went nuts!), but because of some other comic book writing commitments. That’s right, your fearless Comic Book Herald mastermind has taken has talents to South Beach! Wait, what’s that, it’s 90 degrees and humid down there? Scratch that, I’m sweating just thinking about it.
You will find me reviewing comics on Tuesdays and Thursday over at Capeless Crusader, though. And on occasion, I provide comic book suggestions on Ript Apparel’s blog (if you like custom tees for $10, you gotta give this site a look).
This leads me to today’s question, which I covered in some detail over at Ript: Where do you start with Guardians of the Galaxy comics? [Read more…] about Question of the Week: Where Should I Start With Guardians of the Galaxy?
Amazing Spider-Man Reading Order!
The Amazing Spider-Man is finally in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which can only mean one thing: It’s time for a Marvel Spidey comics reading order guide!
I’ve already put together the Ultimate Spider-Man reading order (which is highly recommended for you webheads out there who’ve avoided the Ultimate Universe thus far), so it’s time to dive into Amazing Spider-Man. This is an occasionally complex continuity, so make sure you have plenty of spare web cartridges and possibly a clone nearby. We’re gonna be here a while:

Question of the Week: What’s a Good Ultimate Spider-Man Reading Order?
Update 4/24/26 — Hey! Hey you! If you’re here looking for the new Ultimate Spider-Man by Jonathan Hickman and Marco Checchetto – the series that ran from 2024 to 2026 – go straight to Comic Book Herald’s Ultimate Universe 2.0 comics guide! If you’re here for the Ultimate Spider-Man series that started in 2000 and then transitioned to Miles Morales in 2011, stay here! Enjoy the comics!
May 2nd, 2014 saw the release of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (may we all live long and forget), and for many comic fans, that’s the superlative most frequently associated with our favorite webhead: The Amazing Spider-Man. It’s the title that Stan and Steve built, and it’s the most established for good reason.
Nonetheless, it’s the relatively pubescent Ultimate Spider-Man that will be influencing the film most strongly, and to my mind it’s Ultimate Spider-Man that new fans of Spidey should be most interested in catching up on.
I tweeted as much on Good Friday, and that leads us to this week’s question of the week: [Read more…] about Question of the Week: What’s a Good Ultimate Spider-Man Reading Order?
