Wolverine #12 Review! The Last Wolverine Story: Conclusion

August 30, 2014 by Jeff Ayers Leave a Comment

This is it. The be all, end all, last issue of the WOLVERINE title. Going back to 1988 with WOLVERINE number 1, or even farther to the Frank Miller/Chris Claremont mini series from 1982, it has been quite the rollercoaster adventure, chronicling Wolverine’s life. It all comes down to this, a double sized issue that is now the bookend to a long and illustrious comic book series. [Read more…] about Wolverine #12 Review! The Last Wolverine Story: Conclusion

Silver Surfer #5 Review! The End of a Five Issue Setup Arc

August 30, 2014 by Travis Bass Leave a Comment

Dan Slott and Michael Allred’s run on Silver Surfer was one of my most anticipated books once it was announced. I loved the idea that Surfer was going to travel around the universe with a human companion as they explore a trippy Jack Kirbyesque version of the Marvel Galactic Universe. And while I’m not disappointed with with this run, I do wish it would pick up the pace a bit. Dan slott has spent the last four issues introducing the audience to the new character of Dawn Greenwood, and while that is not a bad thing seeing as Dawn is a likeable character, let me just say that this book has not quite reached the heights set by the Infinite Comic that Marvel released on Comixology around the time this book started. Cyclops #4 Review! Man (and son) V.S. Wild

August 30, 2014 by Big Phil Leave a Comment

The Trial of Jean Grey may not of been my favorite crossover, but my favorite part of that whole arc was that it gave us a new Cyclops book. For anyone who hasn’t checked this book out yet or doesn’t know this series, this is about the young time displaced Cyclops and not the present day revolutionary Cyclops. I’ve enjoyed the father and son feel that this book has had throughout the whole series. This may not be an all-ages book, but I feel it does have a rather mass appeal to everyone. Avengers #34 Review! The Last Avenger

August 29, 2014 by Jeff Ayers Leave a Comment

What a long, strange trip it’s been in the pages of Avengers. Poor Steve Rogers has been hurdled through time, yet again, but this is directly because of the time gem, of infinity gem fame. (We still have yet to see that one in any of the marvel movies, so keep your eyes peeled for that.) [Read more…] about Avengers #34 Review! The Last Avenger

Avengers Undercover #9 Review! The End is Near for Marvel’s Most Underrated Title

August 29, 2014 by Travis Bass Leave a Comment

And so we’ve reached the second to last issue of a story that’s been going on since the beginning of MARVEL NOW! A book that I have enjoyed and looked forward to every month since it began as Avengers Arena, sadly appears it’s going to end slightly ahead of schedule, and will not allow Dennis Hopeless to write his planned trilogy following these characters. Now that doesn’t mean that this series will have a complete non-ending, it just means Hopeless had to jettison some plot and character development to get to the end he add originally planned. This would explain the three month jump in issue 8. So seeing as I’m talking about the the second to last issue of a story that’s gone through two titles, this is not a jumping on point. Before I start, let me just say I HIGHLY recommend checking out the first trade of Avengers Arena, and onward from there. Now, Avengers Undercover #9.
