In terms of entertainment, 2019 was pretty remarkable. I’m not sure where it’ll fall in the decade when we look back, but for my money some of my favorite comic book TV, comic book movies, and straight up comic book moments of the decade all happened this year.
Since I’ve already shared Comic Book Herald’s favorite comics of 2019 in a host of places, this week’s column will focus on favorites across other mediums and categories.
TV
I don’t get to keep up with critically acclaimed TV as much as I’d like anymore (I think I’ve been watching Legion season two for approximately 7 years), but I do at least get to venture outside the comics genre on occasion here. Nonetheless, my two favorite shows of the year earnestly fit within the broader scope of “Comic book TV,” one from HBO and one from DC Universe.

Movies
I think this might be the first year of my life where I exclusively went to the movies to see comics related pictures for Comic Book Herald. I’d say that sitting down for 2 hours seems like a preposterous luxury with two kids and two jobs, but really it’s just that if I do have spare time to sit and relax, I’d rather play a video game!
So yes, my favorite movies list is just the comic book movies of 2019, in order of preference. Spoiler: This may or may not upset some clowns.
