It’s time for DC’s The Batman to hit theaters in 2022, which means the CBH staff is here to pick some favorite Batman comics and graphic novels to fully immerse yourself in Gotham City.

The 10 Best Wolverine Comics!

As Marvel Comics kicks off the 10 issue weekly event X Lives / X Deaths of Wolverine, the CBH staff is looking back at some of our favorite Wolverine comics of all time! X Lives / X Deaths promises to explore Wolverine’s full history, so it’s a great time to dig through the long catalog of Wolverine comics in Marvel’s history, and enjoy some all-time greats and some off-the-beaten-path favorites.

It’s worth noting up front that these selections largely eschew the well-worn recommendations you can find on any ol’ site (what’s up Claremont/Miller Wolverine, Old Man Logan, and that time Wolverine swallowed a cigar whole like a dumb manly python because Moira asked him to put it out indoors). Loki on Disney Plus: Episode One Review & Theories!

Following up on the hype-machine success of WandaVision, and the muddled reactions to SamCap and the Winter Soldier, Marvel’s Disney+ TV continues with 2021’s Loki, starring Tom Hiddleston. Loki picks up directly after 2012-Loki uses the cosmic cube in Avengers: Endgame, and escapes during the Avengers Time-Heist.

There’s a fair amount riding on Loki, as the MCU tries to cement their place as the essential big and small screen pop culture experience. A Guide to Trans Representation In Marvel Comics

Dave Buesing: Earlier this year, my podcast co-host Zack Deane requested a Koi Boi reading order on behalf of a Comic Book Herald patron, and if that didn’t make sense, wondered if a guide to trans representation in Marvel could be an alternate. Since a CBH guide to Koi Boi would ultimately just say “read Unbeatable Squirrel Girl,” we have instead sought out a complete guide to transgender characters in the Marvel Universe, with detailed conversations about the quality of Marvel’s representation for each.

I want to be eminently clear that this is not a victory lap celebrating Marvel. Finding examples of Trans representation are few and far between in the tens of thousands of comics the publisher’s released.  Likewise, there are examples of what could be considered “transgender” representation that are so reprehensible and offensive that I couldn’t bring myself to even mention them in this guide.
