OK, What Comics Should You Read In Between Cap 3: Civil War Viewings?

The MCU has officially dropped Captain America 3: Civil War stateside, and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m already writing hyperbolic praise in my head and I haven’t even seen it (my expectations might be a wee bit too high – it’s a dangerous state of mind!). The Rotten Tomatoes reviews are so far pulling a reverse Batman v Superman, which will surely only calm those DC vs. Marvel conspiracy theories.

As you step out of the theater this weekend, or in coming weeks, you may think to yourself: What Marvel Comics should I read now! I need more of this! Did I close the garage? Agent Carter Season One: “I Am Burdened With Glorious Purpose”

The quote in the headline is one of Loki’s from Avengers, but it aptly fits the new Agent Carter miniseries that aired its first two episodes earlier this week. Despite its cinematic dominance, Marvel’s live action TV game has been inconsistent at best. DEATH OF WOLVERINE Deadpool and Captain America – ADVENTURE!

For the uninitiated, let me get you up to speed. Captain America is a super soldier, who fought in WWII, was frozen in ice, and revived in modern times to lead the Avengers. Recently, he got the super soldier serum sucked out of him in a fight, because comics. This has left him a frail old man, but an old man with the skills and battle knowledge that he has acquired over the last half of century. Deadpool is another super soldier, of sorts, made stronger by the Weapon X program, the same one that bonded adamantium to Wolverine. Captain America #25 Review! “The New Guy”

This issue is a landmark one, in that a new player dons the stars and stripes, and takes up the shield. It has been hinted at throughout the Captain America line for months now, and finally the issue is upon us.
