Avengers & X-Men: Axis #1 Review! World War Hate Begins!

October 10, 2014 by Travis Bass Leave a Comment

c2The event that Rick Remender has been hinting at since the beginning of Marvel Now! The story that he has been setting up throughout both his Uncanny Avengers and Captain America runs is finally here! The event that will change…ah screw it that joke’s not funny anymore. So yes, Marvel’s latest event, Avengers & X-Men: Axis has begun, and boy has it been a while since Marvel’s last event (for the record, Original Sin ended a grand total of five weeks ago). Who wants to bet that Marvel is going to announce its next “Game-changing” event halfway through this one? I mean they announced Axis before Original Sin even began. Anyway, event-fatigue aside, I have been looking forward to this book since it was announced, and now that I finally got to read issue one, how does this book begin the next event? Old-School X-Men with Lincoln Crisler: Uncanny X-Men #202

October 9, 2014 by Lincoln Crisler Leave a Comment

Our last installment showed us the first appearance of the man called Cable–baby Nathan Christopher Charles Summers. Not only that, but his daddy, Cyclops, received an early Father’s Day gift–a killer beatdown by a powerless Storm during their Danger Room faceoff to determine which of them would lead the X-Men! Uncanny #202, written by Claremont with art by Romita, Jr and Al Williamson, opens with his other child–Rachel Summers, the X-Men’s new Phoenix–working out some issues of her own. Agents of SHIELD Episode 3 Season Two Review! Aos Vs. The Flash Debut

October 8, 2014 by Dave 5 Comments

I had a moment about midway through Agents of SHIELD episode 3 where I wondered if perhaps I’m too hard on Agents of SHIELD, if perhaps my expectations are too high. I also watched CW’s The Flash last night, and found that first episode exhilarating, enjoyable, and most importantly, FUN. I was completely able to take the cheesy lumps – the “subtle” references to speed every fourth sentence, the romantic entanglements of a CW show – and just enjoy them as part of a fun-filled whole. Mid-way through Agents of SHIELD I asked out loud if the show is really so much less fun, or if I’m just significantly less forgiving. Why doesn’t Agents of SHIELD feel so easy to love? Gotham: Episode 3 Review! – The Balloon Man

October 7, 2014 by Drew Narayanan Leave a Comment

Who in world is “The Balloon Man”? That was the first question I asked myself when I heard about this episode. Is he a DC villain in the guise of a different name, or is he an original character? After watching the promo for the episode, I was pretty sure I had it all figured out. “The Balloon Man” would be the precursor to…Professor Pyg (Lazlo Anton). Thor #1 Review! Is It Worthy?

October 4, 2014 by Matt Lehn Leave a Comment

Early fall has always been a time for fresh starts. Schools are back in session and new television shows hit the air. All around, it seems like a good time to get in on the ground floor of just about anything. Likewise, Marvel has relaunched Thor this week with a new number one as part of the “Avengers Now!” branding initiative. However, autumn is also often fraught with ominous symbolism, what with the withering, harvesting and the “winter is coming” of it all. Fittingly, these glooming overtones are well represented within the latest inaugural chapter of writer Jason’s Aaron’s ongoing saga of everyone’s favorite Odinson. [Read more…] about Thor #1 Review! Is It Worthy?
