Herald Guided Tour: Wolverine Origins #11-20 and Annual #1

January 12, 2012 by Dave Leave a Comment

Today on Comic Book Herald, I’ll be offering a guided tour through Wolverine Origins #11-20. Before we begin, I should note that this tour is off-limits to those who grow squeamish at the mere sight of a disemboweling, as well as those who have not read Wolverine Origins #1-10. For a look at where these comics fit into the grand scheme of Marvel continuity, check out my Marvel reading order list! [Read more…] about Herald Guided Tour: Wolverine Origins #11-20 and Annual #1

What’s Emperor Vulcan, aka Gabriel Summers, going to do with the keys to the Shi’Ar Empire? Is this mini-series a worthy follow up to Rise and Fall? Find out after the jump! What Does it Sound Like When an Empire Crashes? The Uncanny X-Men Find Out

January 7, 2012 by Dave 8 Comments

In today’s Marvel Review, Comic Book Herald takes a look at the Uncanny X-Men: Rise and Fall of the Shi’Ar Empire. Is this really the end of the Shi’Ar? Should we even care about one of Marvel’s longest running space civilizations? Does Ed Brubaker own the Uncanny X-Men the same way he did Iron Fist and Captain America? What’s up with powerless Professor X? And just how much X-Men will you have needed to read before this arc makes any sense? Find out after the jump! Dark Knight Rises Trailer: Can Nolan Follow Up the Joker? Kinda Looks Like It

December 20, 2011 by Dave Leave a Comment

Compared to the last comic book movie trailer I posted (see: Ghost Rider 2: Spirit of Vengeance), the new Dark Knight Rises trailer looks like a ball of Citizen Kane wrapped in bacon-flavored whiskey. Both delicious, dangerously manly and on a fast track for critical acclaim. Of course, that’s not setting the bar particularly high.

So how does the Dark Knight Rises really look? Click on through to watch the trailer (probably again) and share your thoughts on my thoughts! [Read more…] about Dark Knight Rises Trailer: Can Nolan Follow Up the Joker? Kinda Looks Like It

Ghost Ride the Whip: Spirit of Vengeance Trailer Exists Against All Odds

December 17, 2011 by Dave Leave a Comment

There’s something to be said for the cajones on the Marvel execs who decided to greenlight a second Ghostrider film. I mean, the first was ballsy enough (the fact that it got made… not the plot), but it came at a weird time in our nation’s history. Non-existant WMD’s were all the rage, special effects had finally caught up to superhero movies, and Elektra had her own feature length cure-for-insomnia. Everybody was getting their own superhero movie. I’m pretty sure Batroc the Leaper starred in a flick with Paul Rudd portraying him. It was a simpler time.  [Read more…] about Ghost Ride the Whip: Spirit of Vengeance Trailer Exists Against All Odds
