    Longtime listener, first time commenter!

Hickman’s FF was a book I was super into when it was being published. Zack’s point is very valid when he points out that in real time this was tough to read. However after coming from Secret Warriors I was accustomed to re-reading Hickman regularly. I regularly went back 3-6 issues to comprehend what, exactly, was happening and to pick up on the various aspects of the story. For someone who wasn’t accustomed to doing that, though, I could see this being a frustrating experience.

Adding one more thought as I continue through the episode:

The reason I think I love Hickman’s work is because in a way his work makes me feel like I’m picking up my first Marvel comic again.

I’d like to believe we all have an experience maybe vaguely similar to this, where we see all these bright colors and interesting tidbits that draw us in. There comes a time when we know more about the books we read, and maybe things don’t surprise us or fill us with wonder anymore. Hickman’s depth of storytelling means that even if I’m reading every issue I’m having some plot points drip-fed to me that feel full formed. There aren’t comics for me to read to get me caught up (yet), and I’m not mad about it. The explanation will come in due time. Additionally, along the way I’m fully engaged in speculation about where this all goes. Not a lot of writers pull that off well, or consistently, for me. Hickman does.

        Thanks for your thoughts, Craig!

There are Hickman comics that hit for me like what you’re describing. I was a bit bummed these didn’t, even though I net out on being positive on them.

The Remender X-Force comics we’re about to cover were absolutely thrilling to me, so look forward to the rare Zack-Praises-A-Comic-Without-Complaining episode. 🙂
