If you’re anything like me (muscular, ravishing, modest…), there’s a good chance that you will eat yourself into a coma this Thanksgiving while simultaneously cursing your fantasy football team. There’s also a great chance you’ll use the Holiday break to catch up on all the great comic books on your “must-read” list. And if you’re one of the legions who use Comic Book Herald for your reading order, guide, and review needs, then I want to say THANK YOU for making Comic Book Herald such a rip-roaring success! So to the readers: thank you. You’re all awesome and make Comic Book Herald such a rewarding graveyard shift!
Believe it or not, I officially launched Comic Book Herald back in November 2011. The site transitioned from my first foray into comic book blogging: Odin’s Thunderbolts. The lesson there is that any time you can name a website for a strange allusion to Norse Gods, and with an acronym that also stands for Off Track Betting, that’s a move you might want to reconsider.
Although I posted occasionally in the first year, Comic Book Herald began in earnest with the production of the Complete Marvel Reading Order Guide in November 2012. Since that time the site has grown in audience every single month, surpassing 100,000 unique visitors (you’re all unique to me!) this year. To the Guardians of the Galaxy movie: thank YOU for the surge in Marvel cosmic interest.
It’s been a completely fantastic experience running the little comic book blog that could, and it’s gotten even better since adding so many talented writers and comic book fans back in July of this year. I get Twitter, e-mail, and comment questions and positive feedback from you all daily (#feedbackbrag) and all of it is encouraging to see.
So one more time: thanks to the Comic Book Herald tried and true, and I look forward to seeing you around the site in 2015. We have a lot of great content in mind for the coming year, but as always, if you have requests or thoughts, do what feels right to you in the comments.
