Let’s get this out of the way: Marvel’s “Fresh Start” era has had an infinity stone problem. The iconic gems, most famously popularized in Jim Starlin, George Perez, and Ron Lim’s Infinity Gauntlet, have simply been overexposed in the past 3 to 4 years of comic book storytelling, greatly diminishing their impact, and the excitement I feel for stories centered on their immense power.
Suffice to say, had minimal interest when Marvel announced “Infinite Destinies,” a summer 2021 crossover spanning a handful of Marvel Annuals… until it was clear that this crossover will run through Jed MacKay’s ongoing Black Cat, one of my favorite Marvel Comics of the past couple years! The Black Cat team of Jed Mackay and Travel Foreman will also tackle the Avengers Annual in the saga, which is exciting. Mix in an Al Ewing written Guardians of the Galaxy annual, and suddenly my tolerance for “Infinite Destinies” is expanding.

Black Cat
Marvel’s Black Cat is one of the surprise standout titles of the “Fresh Start” era, in large part due to the creative presence of Jed MacKay and Travel Foreman. MacKay will be a main architect of “Infinite Destinies,” so familiarity with these very good comics will certainly help!

For those thrown off by the incorrect numbering on both the Miles Morales & the Guardians Annuals:
Assuming that the correct ordering of the 8 “Infinite Fury” backup chapters is indicative of the correct ordering for the 8 “Infinite Destinies” chapters (all but certain that it is), then the correct reading order would be:
A) INFINITE DESTINIES & INFINITE FURY:
————————————————————
01) Iron Man – Annual 1
02) Captain America – Annual 1
03) Black Cat – Annual 1
04) Amazing Spider-Man – Annual 2
05) Thor – Annual 1
06) Guardians of the Galaxy – Annual 1
07) Miles Morales: Spider-Man – Annual 1
08) Avengers – Annual 1
B) INFINITY SCORE:
————————————————————
09) Black Cat – 08
10) Black Cat – 09
11) Black Cat – 10
12) Black Cat – Giant-Size
