Comic Book Herald has been super busy lately, with all sorts of new developments and reading orders. I wanted to highlight them all here so you can see what’s new and useful around the site, and in the world of comics!
New Reading Orders!
Below you’ll find the newest reading orders on Comic Book Herald, and where I’m updating on a weekly basis:
I update the Secret Empire reading order as new issues are released. Marvel’s current 2017 event is close to completion, with 8 of 10 core event issues in the bag. I’d anticipate the event begins making its way to Marvel Unlimited in October.
Following Secret Empire, Marvel is moving through a 10 issue anthology called “Marvel Generations” before a linewide rebrand called Marvel Legacy. I’ve outlined all the related issues currently announced, and will be reading and updating as Legacy launches in October 2017.
I am beyond excited for Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s DC Metal DC Rebirth and the event is off to a fantastic start with Dark Days: The Forge
My Marvelous Year
The My Marvelous Year reading club is currently reading the best Marvel Comics from 2007, and we will start with a new list for comics published in 2008 at the start of September 2017.
If you’ve always wanted to read Marvel Comics but have been too uncertain where to start, now’s the time to join My Marvelous Year!
Dave’s Writing For The Man
Over the past handful of months I’ve also begun writing feature articles for Comic Book Resources, aka CBR.com, aka that site you love to hate.
It’s been a really fascinating experience working within the walls of one of comics’ journalisms largest publishers (oh the stories I could tell). CBR gets oodles and oodles of fan outrage these days, but they also have one of the largest reaches in all of comics blogging, and I’ve gotten to write some extremely fun pieces for the site.
And no, I’m not planning on writing any of those salacious “15 Sexy Sexes You Like to Sex” articles anytime soon 🙂 I prefer to talk comics.

I share out the CBR stuff on social sometimes, so always appreciated if a topic grabs your interest and you want to give it a read!
Hopefully your articles there can bring them back on track. A lot of the stuff written there is just publishes things for the sake of being controversial. They end up bashing and praising the same movie in about a 6 month period.
The infinite scrolling and all the ads are a pain as well. Its the only site that runs choppy for me. I always say i’m never going back to that site. And then i find an interesting article that is actually about comics…
I know what you mean – I had a really negative perception until I started writing some pieces. There are some very passionate good writers diving deep into comics. And there’s, you know, some fluff 🙂 The ads are pretty brutal. I don’t fault any site for trying monetize but it’s just bad user experience for a site with such a high profile.
Trying to avoid too much of the controversy is tricky because it’s clear those are the pieces that do well for them. I’m trying to find the right balance. It’s an interesting challenge, very different from the extremely positive little ecosystem I’ve managed to set up on Comic Book Herald 🙂
