Tom says
Sorry, late to the party desperately trying to catch up. Just finished 1965
Hey, did you guys and gals know that Matt Murdock (aka Daredevil) is a blind man?! Don’t worry, in case you forget they remind you on nearly every page he appears! I think my particular favorite reference to his blindness was Karen Page thinking to herself that she’d “marry him in a heartbeat, EVEN THOUGH he’s blind.” Poor Karen, smitten with a disabled person. Listen Karen, let’s hope the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen demonstrates the same loyalty and affection when you eventually get hooked on heroin and become an adult film actress.
Also, I never knew Captain America has (according to Hawkeye), “no noticeable super powers”, though he is able to leap over a crowd of what Rick Jones describes as “hundreds”, using the hood of a car as a springboard…because he is a self-proclaimed “master of combat gymnastics”. Avengers #16 is chalk full of goodness, particularly the felt need to create this forced sense of melodrama surrounding Iron man, Ant-Man, and the Wasp’s decision to take “a leave of absence.” I never knew taking a vacation could be so sad. 1960s Marvel is wild!
