Hello faithful Comic Book Herald readers!
First of all, thank you to everyone who has helped me grow Comic Book Herald from a wee aimless blog talking about Quentin Tarantino’s misguided assessment of Green Lantern into a wee go-to source for reading order and comic book guides. In six plus years of running Comic Book Herald I’ve heard so much positive feedback and suggestions from readers I can’t thank even a fraction of you individually. Just let me say it all goes toward keeping CBH healthy and passionately updated.
Thank you. Even if this is your first time reading Comic Book Herald, and you’re sitting there like “Well, gee, I haven’t done that much,” thanks to you too!
Pulling back the curtain slightly, my name’s Dave, and I run all aspects of Comic Book Herald. Every reading order, every post, every technical update, every design element, every frustrating moment on hold with my hosting provider… that’s me. It’s my favorite hobby this side of actually reading comics, but at the end of the day, it has also become a fair amount of (glorious) work.
Here’s the deal: I’d like to do more. I’d like Comic Book Herald to grow and grow and continue helping readers in the ways it’s been able to help so many.
To do that, I could use your help.
Last month, I quietly launched a Comic Book Herald Patreon account.
If you’re not familiar, Patreon is a site where you can support creators such as comic book artists, podcasts, and websites with monthly donations.
I was initially uncomfortable with this approach – CBH readers don’t owe me anything, and the site isn’t going anywhere – but I’ve found a way to reward supporters with new and unique content that I feel makes it worth it.
Again, you can visit the Patreon to see all the rewards available to supporters, but highlights include:
- Monthly Question of the Week mailbags (Patrons get priority access to all questions and support)
- Monthly Update Logs (A frequent request on CBH to see exactly what has changed across site reading orders)
- Reading order suggestion prioritization
- Custom monthly reading playlists (at the $5 a month tier)
- The knowledge that you’ve helped Comic Book Herald do cool stuff and help new fans
I’ve also set an initial goal of $50 a week to start a Patron-exclusive “This Week in Continuity” update, where I keep you in the loop on all the biggest Big 2 continuity developments. We’re about halfway to the goal, so your support will bring us one step closer.
On a final note, thank you for all your support over the years. To anyone who has donated to CBH and is thinking “Wait, I could have gotten rewards for that?!” just shoot me a note in e-mail 🙂
As always, any support is appreciated. Sharing, engaging, or simply reading Comic Book Herald posts is support enough.
Thanks for being great, and as always, enjoy the comics!
