We were made aware that one of the MMY character names in this episode is a potentially offensive, improper term. I (Dave) apologizes for the oversight, and won’t make the same mistake again. For awareness, I’m including the following article which explains the issue: https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2016/04/24/475129558/why-you-probably-shouldnt-say-eskimo?t=1592243990281

Previously On #109: Who’s the Best Writer in Comics in 2020?

June 12, 2020 by Dave 4 Comments

After viewing a tweet recently wondering who the best writer in comics was this year, I realized I didn’t necessarily have a definitive answer, in part because it’s early in the year, and in part because comics have been on a virus-impacted hiatus for nearly two months. My stock-in-trade response has unquestionably been Jonathan Hickman since House of X, but now that East of West is concluded, Black Monday Murders is on a long-term hiatus, and Decorum is only getting started, it’s worth exploring whether that answer holds up. Krakin’ Krakoa #58: Excalibur’s Alternate Realities & Incursions! | Excalibur #10 Review

June 10, 2020 by Dave Leave a Comment

Exaclibur has grown into the series I always wanted it to be. Across issues 9 and 10, Tini Howard, Marcus To and the creative unit have built up a saga of multiverses, alternate realities, and an all-new Captain Britain Corps that both fits into the legacy of Marvel’s Exaclibur dating back to the late 80’s, and provides our first serious glimpse into alternate realities in Dawn of X.

Today I’ll answer:

  • How do all the pieces of Excalibur build to this moment in Excalibur #10
  • Who’s causing the alternate realities in the Dawn of X?
  • What does the re-emergence of Hickman’s Secret Wars era Incursions mean for the X-Men?

Potential spoilers for discussed comics may follow! [Read more…] about Krakin’ Krakoa #58: Excalibur’s Alternate Realities & Incursions! | Excalibur #10 Review

Annihilation – How Marvel Cosmic Was Reborn Through Its Destruction

June 10, 2020 by Matt Draper Leave a Comment

What power in the universe can stand before the Annihilation Wave?

Bound together by the need to survive, one group of often-ignored intergalactic heroes and villains will be the only thing standing between the Marvel Universe and its complete destruction. And from this fight will come the rebirth of Marvel Cosmic and a new generation of heroes.

Annihilation, an event that spanned 29 issues, two years, and 8 different series, was brought to life by writer Keith Giffen and editor Andy Schmidt to give dozens of characters, worlds, and concepts a new lease on life. But to do so, the Marvel Cosmic Universe needed to be brought to the brink. [Read more…] about Annihilation – How Marvel Cosmic Was Reborn Through Its Destruction
