The Complete Guide to Comic Book Movies & TV Shows on Amazon Prime

April 28, 2017 by Dave 1 Comment

I still remember in college when a buddy told me he had a USB stick with the complete X-Men Animated series. I swear he could have told me he had cut shots of Smirnoff vodka with the actual fountain of youth and I’d have been less excited.

Animated comic book shows got me into superheroes, and after years watching the same episodes on repeat, or only finding the first 3 parts of a 4 part story, suddenly there it was at my fingertips. I mean technically I’d consider my wedding or the birth of my son as the best days of my life… but it’s close. Real close. Some might say too close.

Of course, within a year my elated analogy would be completely antiquated. The upside to the proliferation of digital streaming options is it’s never been easier to track down animated superhero TV shows and comic book movies.

The challenge, of course, is navigating what’s actually available on each channel, and what the differences are between the catalogs of Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu, and any other relevant challengers (Like… I kind of want to watch Powers so now I have to consider PS4 TV!).

Below you’ll find the current superhero TV and movie catalog on Amazon Prime. I’ve bolded and italicized “must-watch” series like so.

As you’re likely aware, Prime membership also comes with unbeatable unique perks like free shipping on Amazon orders and original productions like Man In the High Castle, Catastrophe, and Transparent. If you order a lot of comic book trades and collected editions off Amazon like I do, it’s kind of a no-brainer.

Batman: The Animated Series

Superman: The Animated Series

I probably spent 10 minutes a week every week from 2013 to 2016 searching the Netflix catalog for signs of either Batman: TaS or Superman: TaS. I was able to get my Justice League and Justice League Unlimited fix through Netflix, but Bats and Supes were nowhere to be found!

Turns out both series are included in their entirety on Amazon Prime. Whether you’re a longtime DC fan, or new to DC Comics and wondering where to start, in many ways these early 90’s animated adaptations are gospel.

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Legion of Superheroes

The Adventures of Tintin

Comic Book Movies on Amazon Prime

Iron Man

The Marvel Cinematic Universe movie that started it all.

If you want to know where to go after you watch, or are looking for comic book recommendations, I recommend Comic Book Herald’s Marvel Movie Timeline.

Hellboy

Spawn
