Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance Movie Trailer

There’s something to be said for the cajones on the Marvel execs who decided to greenlight a second Ghostrider film. I mean, the first was ballsy enough (the fact that it got made… not the plot), but it came at a weird time in our nation’s history. Non-existant WMD’s were all the rage, special effects had finally caught up to superhero movies, and Elektra had her own feature length cure-for-insomnia. Everybody was getting their own superhero movie. I’m pretty sure Batroc the Leaper starred in a flick with Paul Rudd portraying him. It was a simpler time.

As you probably remember, Ghost Rider was/is/and will always remain a bit of a joke. When I catch it on FX, it doesn’t offend me the way the Fantastic Four movies do, largely because it doesn’t really bother me that Jonny Blaze’s character would be ruined like that. Of course Hollywood wouldn’t get Jonny Blaze right! And of course this movie would have all the credibility of Snakes on a Plane without the clear expectation of outrageous laughter.

So how a second Ghost Rider movie is getting made is beyond me. It’s 110% preposterous and I kind of love it for that. It’s like the ugly oblivious guy at a bar who says all the wrong things, makes Hitler jokes and way too many Zohan references (one. one is too many), and somehow walks out of there with a willing female human. You just gotta root for the guy at that point.

And that’s how I feel about Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. My expectations for this movie could not be lower. If I left this movie violently ill and in need of medical attention, I still wouldn’t be mad because I knew that was coming heading into the theater.

So after watching the weirdly captivating and just downright silly trailer all I can think is: how do I convince my wife to come see this movie with me? As well as: Does making her see this actually endanger my marriage, or can I get away with this?
