Hellfire Gala (2021) Reading Order!

The X-Men Hellfire Gala is one part the biggest development in the X-Men’s “Reign of X” and four parts mutant fashion show. In addition to massive revelations for the future of Marvel’s mutants that will be delivered in the Planet-Size X-Men special, the Hellfire Gala also promises delicious design from superstar artists like Russel Dauterman, Valerio Schiti, Bob Quinn, and Lucas Werneck.

The crossover will run through nearly all of the ongoing X-Men titles, for a single issue at a time, including the aforementioned all-new Planet-Size special from Gerry Duggan and Pepe Larraz. With X-Men #21, the Gala also marks the official end of writer Jonathan Hickman’s time writing the X-Men title (don’t fear fans, he’s simply moving onto other projects within the X-verse).

Below you’ll find a complete guide to the 2021 Hellfire Gala, including notes on each comics relevance and story implications as updates occur. And as always, look for my coverage on Youtube on Krakin’ Krakoa each day new comics are released!

X-Men: Hellfire Gala

Collects: Marauders (2019) 21, X-Men (2019) 21, Planet-Size X-Men (2021) 1, S.W.O.R.D. (2020) 6

While the “Red Carpet” collected edition promises every issue in the crossover event, the much smaller “X-Men: Hellfire Gala” trade seems to tell us what is considered essential in the event before it happens! No real surprises here, as the gala has been built up in Marauders, X-Men #21 is Hickman’s final issue on the title, and Planet-Size and SWORD will deliver those galactic plans the X-books have been teasing for a while now!
