Comic Book Herald is looking to expand our reach and frequency of publication. To do that, we’d like to add talented, passionate comic book fans, writers, and editors. There is a lot of freedom in terms of the role you can craft for yourself with Comic Book Herald, but some ideal positions are highlighted below.

Comic Book Herald is a website / blog dedicated to guiding enthusiastic comic book readers through the immense amounts of comic books, trade paperbacks, and digital reading options available. Traffic to the site has grown significantly every month since launch in January 2012, and you will be joining a site with over 200,000 monthly pageviews (and growing!). It’s a great opportunity to share your work, build a profile in the comics community, and speak to a vast audience of Comic Book Herald fans!

Compensation: Wait, you don’t want to do this for free? Things like “prestige” and “benevolence” don’t pay your bills? Understandable. Each position below will receive compensation based on position responsibilities and expectations. Mostly we’ll pay you in comics. Good comics. Details to follow after each application.

Marvel Comics Chronology Editor/Writer

Are you a huge Marvel Comics fan who is currently catching up on the deep, occasionally convoluted history of Marvel? Do you love reading books in the proper chronological order and want to help other readers do the same? Are you currently making your way through the Comic Book Herald complete Marvel reading order and have insights, edits, and analysis to offer?

If you answered yes to any or all of the above, you might be a great fit for our Marvel Comics Chronology Editor / Writer. Position requirements include:

  • Updating reading order guides to reflect 100% accurate chronology
  • Editing existing reading order guides for chronology, consistency, and style
  • Writing 1 (minimum) post per week answering reader questions about Marvel chronology

  • Writing reviews of events, issues, or story arcs from Marvel’s history
  • Writing your own column related to Marvel comics – column can take really any shape you wish after some discussion with the Comic Book Herald team

Are you largely caught up on the Marvel Universe and currently collecting new books in their Marvel NOW! era? Do you want to begin reviewing new Marvel Comics of your choosing? Become a Comic Book Herald reviewer!

Position requirements include:

  • Writing 2 (minimum) reviews per week

Additional opportunities with this position include:

  • Writing your own column related to Marvel comics – column can take really any shape you wish after some discussion with the Comic Book Herald team
  • Reviewing the Marvel Cinematic and TV Universe
  • Free beer / burritos basically any time we meet

DC Comics Chronology Editor/Writer

To date, Comic Book Herald has been entirely focused on Marvel Comics. This is one part fandom, three parts time restraints. We are now looking to add a Complete Guide to the DC Comics Universe, and need a DC Comics fan to help!

Comic Book Herald has an event order already with some amount of detail, so you will not need to start from scratch. Position requirements include:

  • Updating reading order guides to reflect 100% accurate chronology
  • Creating a new DC Comics  reading order guide to reflect chronology, consistency, and style
  • Writing 1 (minimum) post per week answering reader questions about DC chronology

Additional opportunities with this position include:

  • Writing reviews of events, issues, or story arcs from DC’s history
  • Writing your own column related to DC comics – column can take really any shape you wish after some discussion with the Comic Book Herald team
  • Free beer / burritos basically any time we meet
