So is this event a good starting point to get into DD before the series in general? If not, what would be?

If you really want to get into Daredevil, the Bendis/Maleev run through the late 90s-early 2000s is unbelievable and a great intro to the character and his world.
It’s been recently collected in some “ultimate collection” trades (the first of which is here: http://www.amazon.com/Daredevil-Michael-Bendis-Ultimate-Collection/dp/0785143882/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1421543401&sr=8-1&keywords=daredevil+by+brian+michael+bendis&pebp=1421543406086&peasin=785143882 so it’s easy to find which is a bonus.
If you’re buying them and wondering: the first 8 issues of this numbering were a story arc written by Kevin Smith (yes, Silent Bob Kevin Smith) and drawn by Joe Quesada (current head something-or-other at Marvel) called Guardian Devil – worth reading too but not essential to the following Bendis/Maleev run.
Also, about half way through the run, Bendis & Maleev took 6 months off to write… something else… so there’s a numbering break in the “Ultimate Collections” where they don’t include that story arc. (It’s a side story about the character “Echo” introduced earlier in the arc and isn’t relevant to the ongoing plots of the series, hence why it’s usually not included).
Hope that helps!

I’m ready to dive into Shadowland (soon as I finish The Devil’s Hand lead-in), thanks to your wonderful list plus technical troubles with MU books seemingly finally being fixed. One question: WHERE does Shadowland: Bullseye one-shot (listed by Wiki in its summarization of the books) go in your list? Wiki lists it between Elektra and Ghost Rider, so I plan to read it just before Ghost Rider … unless you tell me othrwise. Keep up the great work!!!

Where does Shadowland: Bullseye go on this list? It’s mentioned in the Wiki report/list on the event. Thanks!

So in Shadowland Daredevil has just returned from Japan and is now leader of the Hand. And possessed by the Hand’s demon. My question is what comics cover all of that? What are the prequels to Shadowland that cover Daredevil going to Japan, taking over the Hand, and then getting Possessed?
